I have a server I use for virtualization. Following guides on spiceworks I had it booting from a 32gb usb drive with hyper-v 2012 installed, using DAS OBR10 for storage of vms. 3 separate usb drives have been used while testing this after several months of operation it always becomes unbootable after applying windows updates or restarting after running for months. They download, and install. Following the reboot it is unbootable. This keeps happening...it keeps running chkdsk but every variable in the messages during the operation says (null):
checking disk (null) for errors, errors found (null), fixing (null), etc.
The vhd seems fine and I can browse it fine, the usb drive is working as well, just wont boot. My question is:
Should I reinstalled with Hyper-V 2012 R2(any improvement with usb functionality?) Or should I say screw it and put it on actual hard disk? I have 2 hdd slots available to me. If I go this route should I use SSD?
