250 offsite, mixed OS, client machines are having very poor response when using VPN connection to Windows 2003 R2 Std VM Terminal Servers. This started after MS Updates were applied on March 15. Updates that were installed are these:
KB2844285v2
KB2898856
KB2863239
KB2901111
KB2861189
IE 8 Security Update KB2925418 and KB2909210
and these Security Updates for Server 2003:
KB2847311, KB2803821-v2, KB2850869, KB2862152, KB2862335, KB2864058,
KB2864063, KB2868626, KB2875783, KB2876217, KB2876331, KB2892076, KB2893294,
KB2898715, KB2900986, KB2904266, KB2914368, KB2916036, KB2923392, KB2929961,
KB2930275.
While this is an obnoxiously long list, I am wondering if anyone has had the same issues after applying this host of updates. In particular, a web-based app is grinding to a halt. It uses a Terminal Server client, a web server, db server and report server. All of these servers had updates performed on the same date as above, but are running 2008 R2 Enterprise OS. There were only 3 updates performed on these machines KB2930275 and KB2929733 and KB2925418.
In the same period of time, we have been backing away from Symantec Anti-Virus. We originally thought that it was the Symantec anti-virus causing the problem, but nothing has improved with the removal of Symantec.
