After server reinstall I have clients with domain trust problems

I have 7 Windows 7 clients on a Server 2008 R2 network. recently I discovered I could not install updates. After a couple of days of investigating I found that my UPS had been switching to battery power and since I had the nice usb monitor plugged in the server detected it was running on battery and it just so happened the server was installing some updates at the same time. Corrupted files led to reinstall.

After saying all that I have 5 of those clients with domain trust issues. I disjoined and rejoined one of the 2 that are working but when I did a new account was created for that user on that machine and I had to copy their data from the old account to the new and resetup their outlook. I have a local admin account active on all my machines, just in case.

The steps I took were

Log on to the local admin account on the client.

Remove the machine from the domain, add it to a temp workgroup.

Restart the client.

Remove the computer account from the DC in AD users and computers.

Log back on the client locally and join to the domain using Domain Admin credentials.

What did I do that caused the new account. The owners of the company already think computers are evil and destroying the world, I do not want them to notice any difference.

The computers can by the way log onto the network and access resources, i.e. the shared drives.

Please help.
