Hello,
I have been recently tasked with upgrading an existing Windows 2008 SBS server to Server 2012. The existing server is the AD and also runs Exchange 2007. There are 16 workstations with multiple remote employees with accounts. External devices like printers and scanners also exist.
The questions that I have are:
What version of Windows Server 2012 do you recommend? Is Essentials enough for this setup with a little room for future growth or should Standard be the better selection?
What type of labor time should be assigned to setting up the new hardware and integrating the existing setup(s) to the new hardware?
Should the existing Exhange server remain as is when migrated over or would it be better to use a VM installation for this?
What is the best hardware configuration for the migrated server. Currently thinking Quad Core with 16Gb ram just to be very general. Is there more to be considered?
Thanks for the help in advance,
