Server DNS

I work for a MSP and we had a client who used to use a SBS 2003 server which controlled everything, DNS, DHCP and etc... However, it started to die and now the user uses a cloud based solution for their workstations. We have noticed that the users would get disconnected briefly for some reason but would be able to join back a couple of minutes later. But it wasn't all users at the same time it would be random ones.

We have replaced the modem and router and were still getting the issue. I changed the router to take care of DNS and DHCP which seems to have resolve the disconnect issue by having the router take care of DNS but because all of their local workstations are still on the domain that is the SBS 2003 server it is going to cause authentication issues, RWW and OWA will not work because the server is no longer controlling the DNS.

Does anyone have any ideas on how we could resolve this? I am afraid the server is on its last leg as it appears DNS on it is now dying. Thanks!
