stop windows update from creating temporary files on network drive

We are running windows updates on all of our 2008 R2 servers via WSUS.  WHen updates get installed, a series of temp folders gets created in our large network share that is attached to one of the servers. Around 10-15 folders get created with names like "9e531b2f-dc7f-4caf-8241-f629e790691d" and "MSI40763.tmp".

I have read that windows uses the largest connected drive to store these temp folders, but I'd like to know if there is any way to prevent this from happening... or to force the temp folders to be stored in another location. Any help, is very much appreciated.
