Hi All,
I've just noticed a rather strange bug with WDS (2008 R2) in my setup.
For the last 12-18+ months I've been using WDS to deploy a custom W7 image with no unattended files and its been fine. Very basic setup for both the image and the server as it served what i needed it to do perfectly well. Only "oddity" was that i had the boot.wim for all images set to the Windows 8 one, as it had better compatibility wth NICs. (i know i can use custom ones, but the W8 one works with everything ive thrown at it without issue).
About a 2 weeks ago i created a 8.1 image with an unattend file specified directly on the image (not at host level) in WDS. That worked fine for the 8.1 image too. I haven't imaged anything since.
The only changes to WDS was the import of the 8.1 image, and the image itself having the "allow unattend" turned on for it, and the xml specified.
I noticed yesterday whilst building a computer that my W7 image, if deployed with WDS, removes almost all the installed apps installer entries (although the apps themselves work) in add/remove programs.
Whereas if i use the same image without WDS, it works fine, all installed apps appear in add/remove.
Has anyone seen this behavior before?
Thanks in advance.
