I have a Server 2008 Enterprise and I know that I have 4 free VM licenses and I only have 2 running right now. I need to add another server, preferably Server 2012.
First of all, is Server 2012 R2 included in the "free" licenses I can assign to VMs? Or is it just Server 2008s that I can run as free VMs?
Second, how is your experience with running Server 2012 on top of 2008? I've had experiences with Server 2008 R2 hosting Server 2012 but none without R2. Do you know if there are any limitations for non-R2 version?
