Insane Windows 2012 networking issue

Ok, here is a very strange issue. Virtual machines below running on vSphere 5.1 connecting to a SonicWALL NSA220 - IP 172.30.4.254.

WIndows 2012 server #1 domain controller (and DNS server)

Static IP of 172.30.4.12

Subnet 255.255.255.0

Gateway 172.30.4.254

It can ping internal IP addresses including the gateway address. It cannot ping 4.2.2.2 or 8.8.8.8. It is also having DNS issues (other computers can't access web pages via domain name, but can via IP).

Another Windows 2012 server #2 on the same A/D domain

Static IP of 172.30.4.13

Subnet 255.255.255.0

Gateway 172.30.4.254

It can ping internal IP addresses and external IP address (same as above) without any issues.

If I change the DNS address on server #2 to 4.2.2.2, web pages load just fine.

I have completely removed the ethernet adaptors (VMXNET3) from server #1, rebooted, re-added, re-configured. Added a second one and configured, still no go.

Diagnostics on Windows 2012 are useless.

I am stumped!! No malware on the server, nobody ever accesses it locally.

Have also tried resetting via NETSH (IP settings & winsock) to no avail.

Help!!
