Have a client with Windows 2003, everything has been working fine with tif file association for 3 years until end of last week. All of a sudden the Remote users have lost the ability to view the images in the fax console, their emr that uses tif's, and when double clicking on a tif file on the desktop will open it in windows picture and fax viewer. Because of the way the emr uses tif's, it has always been set to use ie to open them. When trying to open tif images in the fax console I get the error "The fax document cannot be displayed because your operating system does not have a default viewer for fax documents (TIF files)." The administrator account has no problems with opening the images from desktop, fax console, or the emr in windows picture and fax viewer or ie. I have searched the net and have not found a fix for this. I have tried reseting it from folder options, it doesn't show up in the list and doesn't let me add it. I have tried using the open with option to reset it to both ie and windows picture and fax viewer. Like I said a tif file from explorer or on the desktop will open in windows picture and fax viewer, but when I try to change it to another program it does not change and still have the same issues described with the fax console and emr throwing the error. I have also tried resetting it using the registry but this has not help either. Me and another tech have searched through the event viewer and can not find an error that would relate to the issue we are having. The accounts also have administrative rights. Have also tried rebuilding the profile and also created a new rdp user with no luck as it also happens to the new user as well. Any suggestions would be very helpful.
