Ok guys, got a good one for you all here:
I've inherited a Terminal Services server that's running Windows Server 2008 R2 that's used every day as our office's main terminal server. Whoever set this thing up did a right mess of a job, though, since they didn't set up any kind of storage quotas and they f*(&$ed up the RAID 5 array pretty good (see attachment).
The issue that I'm having is that I'm running out of space on the system partition (C:), where about 40GB worth of user profiles are stored, as well as running low on space on the "Data" partition (U:) where another 100GB of user profiles are stored. As best I can tell, the profile data on U: are all roaming profiles, and the data on C: are local profiles, but I can't find any references to any roaming profiles being set up through GPO.
I've got replacement 3TB WD Red drives waiting to be installed to upgrade the server's storage capacity, but I can't think of a way to move the user profiles without losing all of the data or breaking the links between profiles and essentially breaking the server. My initial thought was to copy what I need off the server, install the new drives, do a brand new installation of 2008R2, and copy the profiles/registry entries back over, but with the...unique...way the server is now I have no idea if it will even work.
Oh, also as an added bonus, the server is also running Hyper-V with a single XP VM running Quickbooks. I've already tried to port it over to our [terribly underpowered] ESXi host, but had major issues doing so.
Any help you guys might be able to give would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks!
