server 2008sbs to server 2012 migration

Hi all

I am in the process of migrating from a 2008 sbs server to our fairly new 2012 server and have run into a bit of a problem I'm not sure if I missed a step somewhere but here is what I did.

Step 1.

Made backup images of both server using windows backup and restore software

Step 2

Ran dcdiag to check for and resolve problems on primary server.

Step 3

Proceeded to transferring FSMO roles to the 2012 server

All transfers were successful.

Problem

When trying to edit the GPO's on the 2012 server I get "Network name cannot be found" I have researched this and found out that it is a SYSvol related issue where the SYSvol folder was not replicated, On checking the sysvol folder on 2012 machine it is unshared and empty.

I have read in research that in situations like this that an authoritative or non-authoritative restore must be done of sysvol. I am a bit concerned about doing this as i do not know if it would have any more of a negative impact on the domain as I have already transferred all the FSMO roles to 2012 server.
