Hi all,
I'm having a bit of an issue with our new(ish) 2008 R2 domain controller. This DC is virtual hosted on VMware, and time synchronisation with the hardware has been disabled. The DC also holds the PDC FSMO role.
All servers and clients (bar a few with bizzare NTP registry entries) are synced to the PDC.
The issue is that the DC is meant to go out to an external time source (two IP addresses), but it would appear that is is not. The reason for this being that there are some entries in the event log saying that the time sync timed out. Also we have other devices which have successfully synced with the external time source (which all seem to be approx 36 seconds faster).
From looking at various articles and posts online and on Spiceworks, I have found this registry key;
HKLM\SYSTEM\ControlSet001\services\W32Time\Parameters
The values for which are in the attached screenshot. The value for "Ntpserver" is;
"X.X.X.X, 0x4 X.X.X.X, 0x4" (I'm not sure what the 0x4 does, could that be the problem?)
In the other registry key which needs changed (can't remember from the top of my head), the NTPserver has been given the enabled (1) value.
Any help is appreciated guys - sorry if it's a lot to digest in one go!
Thanks!
