This is part one of 2 issues.
A couple weeks ago, I restarted one of our DC's and got an error (don't remember the exact code) requiring that I boot into Directory Services Restore Mode. The AD database was corrupt, so I used ESENTUTL to repair the ntds.dit file. It worked, but things haven't worked right since.
Every 2 days, our print server, DNS and file server roles (all on this DC) go crazy and stop working. I tried running a test via DCDIAG (using the kccevent test) and get an error saying it can't connect. Everything seems to work fine up until then, then everything just stops for no apparent reason. I've tried restarting Active Directory and all related services, to know avail. Restarting the server is the only thing that works. Rinse and repeat 48 hours (or so) later.
In addition, all my computers are running Office 2010 and are licensed via KMS (on this server). Today, one of my computers couldn't authenticate. I checked VAMT - no keys for Office 2010! No computers either! The only thing there is a licensed copy of Windows Server (my DC).
I can't connect to my Symantec Endpoint Protection Manager either, nor my Watchguard Log Manager. I know that seems to not be connected, but to have all this fail at the same time is a little to coincedental.
I appreciate any and all help!
Thanks!
