I love mapped network drives. :) We are almost at capacity on our network storage. It was setup as a standard network share on one of our old Domain controllers in 2002. Now that server is only being used as the network storage server. I have a few questions and want to bounce them off you guys. We have around 100 users on the old 2003 server, with 250GB for their files, shared across all the users.
- I would like to enforce quotas on each user on each share. I know it wasn't possible in 2000/2003, haven't done it before. Any pointers would be appreciated.
- I would really like the option to increase the storage capacity easily. Should I setup a cluster? I have lots of available storage. Over 18TB in raid. All of them can be accessed through iScsi.
- I have licensing for any version of server on my Datacenter servers, so lics will not be an issue.
- It would be awesome if I could move all the files and folders including the permissions automatically. And if the user profile paths could be changed automatically that would be super cool. :) In a super quick server class I attended, they had a powershell script that would do it all for you. I cannot find it anywhere.
- Any other tips would be awesome. :)
